House rules

TargetThe score that ends the match — the seat that CROSSES it doesn't win, the lowest cumulative total does. 100 is the standard game; 50 is a short night, 200 a long one.

Pass each handNo passing

Standard play: every hand passes 3 cards left, right, across, then a hold hand — repeating, with 'across' skipped at an odd seat count. Turning this off makes every hand a hold hand.

Shooting the moonWhat happens when one seat takes every heart and the Q♠ in a hand. Old moon: the shooter scores 0, everyone else takes the full hand. New moon: the shooter subtracts the hand's value from their own score instead. Off: it isn't recognized at all.

Omnibus jack (J♦ is −10)J♦ is an ordinary card

Omnibus Hearts: the J♦ is worth −10 to whoever takes it, which also changes what counts as shooting the moon — the shooter must take the jack too.

House playersThe house fills these seats and plays its own turns — no phones needed. House players only join live online tables, and a round with them at it doesn't count toward anyone's lifetime records.

Short a seat? The house sends players like Miss Ruby or Cousin Earl. Their rounds don't count toward records.
